SRI LANKA. The fishmarket in Negombo

The fish market in Negombo is a surprise. Great catamarans who sail the waves of the Laccadive Sea and hundreds of people on the beach await them. Some people wash the fish in the nets, others stretch it out to dry on palm mats while buyers crowd on the seashore. The poorest ones collect the smallest fish that fall from the nets while the richest ones get the best fish. A great and epic spectacle in which everyone seems to play a role.
